Connecticut Blue Card Armed Guard

The State of Connecticut "Blue Card" Course expands upon the lessons learned in the Guard Card Course to encompass a more in depth understanding of the laws inherent to carrying a firearm during employment.

During the 8 hour class time students will be instructed in how to identify and demonstrate firearm nomenclature and safety issues regarding the use and safe storage of firearms, duty firearm carry techniques and suggested appropriate equipment needed.

In depth discussions covering Connecticut General Statutes regarding firearm use of force and security officer laws, along with the technical aspects and legal responsibilities inherent in carrying and using a firearm as an armed security officer.

On completion of the course each student will have a solid understanding of Use of Force (reasonable and deadly) and the responsibilities and legalities of each when used.

This course requires students to pass a written test and range qualification upon completion.

Students must possess a current and valid Guard Card Certification Prior to taking this class.

  • (1) Duty Handgun - This will be the firearm your qualified to carry during employment
  • 2 Magazines and Speed loaders
  • A quality duty belt (Leather Duty Belts are recommended, but not required)
  • Double On The Waist (OTW) Magazine / Speedloader Pouch
  • Proper Range Attire and inclement weather gear
  • Cleaning Kits are recommended
  • 1 Gallon of water or other beverage of choice for hydration
  • Eye and Ear Protection
  • Note Book and Pen For Note Taking during classroom lectures
  • 150 Rounds Ammunition
